Mike Davis, Wimpys Tonnob, Win Three Divisions at the 2009 NRHA FuturityFirst-time NRHA Futurity finalist Michael Davis, Davenport, Iowa, rode David and Joyce Nuernberger’s Wimpys Tonnob (Wimpys Little Step x Powder Playgirl x Powder River Playboy) to a 222 to win the Intermediate, Limited and Level 1 Open divisions. He credited Shawn Flarida with matching him and Wimpys Tonnob, a horse who was in Flarida’s Springfield, Ohio, barn. Davis liked the colt from the start and said they’ve built a rapport. That showed through in the finals, and he earned $78,000 for the three divisions. “He’s a big stopper and he nailed that first stop,” Davis said. “I had a lot of confidence in him.” |
